2 Players That Should Interest The Heat At The Deadline

After coming narrowly close to reaching the NBA Finals for the second time in three seasons last spring, the Miami Heat are struggling.

They’re 16-16, putting them in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, and they rank just 26th in offensive rating and 29th in scoring at just 108.0 points per game.

Miami needs an upgrade at point guard, as Kyle Lowry is showing his age this season, as well as more functional depth in its frontcourt.

These two trade targets could greatly help the team make a run during the second half of the season and perhaps give it a puncher’s chance of going far in the playoffs.

Terry Rozier

While Lowry is 36 years of age and perhaps over the hill, as he’s shooting just 40.1 percent from the field, Rozier is 28 and has quickness and fluidity.

Yes, Rozier’s shooting numbers are down this season, but he has picked those numbers up lately, and he could give the Heat a shot in the arm offensively.

The acquisition of Lowry in the summer of 2021 is perhaps starting to look like a mistake, especially given the three-year, $85 million contract he signed that offseason.

Bojan Bogdanovic

The Heat were a prolific 3-point shooting team last season and in the 2019-20 campaign when they went to the NBA Finals, but this year they rank just 23rd in 3-point shooting accuracy.

Bogdanovic is averaging 20.7 points a game while hitting 42.1 percent from downtown this year, and he could greatly augment their offense.

His Detroit Pistons are rumored to be open to trading him, and if they’re willing to sell somewhat low on him, Heat team president Pat Riley needs to get in on the act and strike while the iron is hot.
