The Houston Astros are coming off yet another impressive accomplishment, having recently defeated the Philadelphia Phillies to claim their second World Series title in franchise history.
Today, manager Dusty Baker and general manager James Click were given one-year contract extensions for 2023.
Baker finally has his first World Series ring as a manager after 25 seasons in the dugout.
Click came over to Houston from the Tampa Bay Rays to replace the dismissed Jeff Luhnow in 2020.
Astros owner Jim Crane was asked about whether or not he would give Click a longer contract in the future, Crane’s response was simple.
“We’ll see where it goes,” Crane said.
“We’ll see where it goes,” said Crane, when asked if he would offer James Click longer than a one-year contract.

Crane Comments On Click
The expectations are obviously very high in Houston.
The Astros have emerged as a dynasty and have become a model franchise, whether fans want to admit it or not.
So naturally, when a team is so successful, the bar will be raised significantly as they continue to win, as the Astros have.
The Astros now have two World Series titles and four American League pennants since 2017.
They have reached the postseason seven of the last eight years.
But it is worth questioning why Crane hasn’t given Click a longer-term deal.
Click did help put together this World Series team, so one would think that a potential multi-year deal might be on the table at some point.
For now, Click and Baker are both staying in Houston as the Astros attempt to repeat in 2023.
