Leeds United enjoyed a summer of vast recruitment, with Jesse Marsch welcoming seven new faces into Elland Road to cope with the major exits of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.
The latter in particular was someone who the American focused on replacing directly, and eventually settled on Luis Sinisterra at the start of July.
However, this came following a saga that dominated the window, with the Whites seemingly desperate to acquire Belgian wonderkid Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge.
The 21-year-old eventually decided that a move to AC Milan was his preferred route, snubbing the Yorkshire club for the Italian capital in a €35m (£30m) switch.
However, that move has been far from successful.
The youngster is yet to score for the Rossoneri across 18 appearances, boasting just one assist in all competitions as his sole goal involvement.
Now, Leeds could be handed a second chance to sign De Ketelaere, with Stefano Pioli seemingly unimpressed with his big-money summer signing.
As per TEAMTalk, Victor Orta remains on high alert should the opportunity arise to once again move in for him with the Spanish director asking to be kept in the loop over their intentions for the Belgian.
Although he has not starred this season, his form last campaign should be enough proof that he has the potential to truly excel.
He could finally offer a replacement for their mercurial Brazilian, with Sinisterra having struggled. The Colombian boasts just two goals in this Premier League campaign.
Described as a player who “combined efficiency with beautiful football” by Gert Verheyen, 6 foot 4 maestro thrived across both domestic and Champions League competition to earn such interest.
As a shadow striker or off either wing, he scored 18 times and assisted a further ten, and has even been called up for his national team to play in the ongoing World Cup.
Should he replicate this goalscoring form at Elland Road, he could finally be the true replacement for the Barcelona man who was last season’s top scorer.
It could just be the catalyst for survival for this season, with Marsch looking for another star man he can lean on.
