After leading the Los Angeles Rams to a come-from-behind win in his first contest with them during Week 14, Baker Mayfield came down to earth on NFL “Monday Night Football” versus the Green Bay Packers and looked more like the impetuous quarterback America has gotten used to seeing.

At one point early in the fourth quarter, with L.A. trailing 24-12, he threw an interception right to Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas, who attempted to throw a lateral pass right before being tackled but nearly turned the ball over.

During the “Manningcast” version of the broadcast, legendary QBs Peyton Manning and Eli Manning had some fun with Douglas’ near miscue.

Peyton Manning jokingly suggested that Douglas should’ve simply thrown the ball back to Mayfield, then later said that “the Rams deserve to get the ball back.”

Meanwhile, Eli Manning wondered why anyone would’ve thought lateraling the ball would be the right move in that situation after the Las Vegas Raiders tried to do so in the waning moments of their Sunday contest against the New England Patriots, only to cough up possession of the ball and lose the game.

The Packers May Have Saved Their Season On That Night

In the end, Douglas got the last laugh, as the Packers held on for a 24-12 win.

With that win, they improved to 6-8 on the season, which puts them 1.5 games behind the Washington Commanders for the final wild-card playoff spot in the NFC.

After all the struggles Green Bay has had this year, especially on offense, there is now an outside chance it could actually sneak into the postseason.

To do so, it will likely have to win all three of its remaining games and hope the Commanders, Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks lose a couple of contests.
