Mauricio Pochettino not keen on becoming Chelsea manager

Must Read

Journalist Dean Jones has revealed that Mauricio Pochettino is not interested in taking over as Chelsea manager if Graham Potter is sacked.

What’s the latest on Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea?

It’s safe to say the Blues have not endured the best run of form of late having won just one of their last five Premier League games, drawing three and losing the other.

As a result, when they take on Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday, they come into the clash stuck in tenth on 31 points – 11 points behind their opponents who are fourth.

Interestingly enough, a former Spurs boss has been discussed widely in the media as a possible replacement for Potter if Todd Boehly loses patience and decided to swing the managerial axe.

However, during the latest edition of Chasing Green Arrows on YouTube, Jones explained why he understood Pochettino was unlikely to join Chelsea.

He began (17:12): “ Yeah, I don’t think Poch is even…”

Host Gianni Buttice then interjected, asking: “He doesn’t want it, apparently, does he?”

Jones replied: “No, I mean, I’d heard that before that story came out that they had looked at it and he wouldn’t be interested. So it was off the table.”

Will Graham Potter be fired before the end of the season?

Could Pochettino end up at Chelsea if Potter goes?

Pochettino has been out of work all season after being sacked from PSG in the summer despite having just won Ligue 1 with the famous French club.

However, he is perhaps best known for his time in England where he helped Spurs regularly finish inside the top four, as well as even leafing them to a Champions League final.

West Ham United have also been linked with a move for the Argentine recently and some reports suggest that he would actually be keen on taking over if David Moyes gets the sack.

Even that is true, then perhaps he’d also been keen on coming to London to take charge of Chelsea in the future. For now though, with Potter still in charge, this remains speculation at best and if Jones’ sources are to be believed, this managerial change doesn’t look as though it will happen any time soon.
