Over the last few years, betting revolving around the NBA and other sports leagues has become wildly popular.

Sites like FanDuel and DraftKings have exploded with their number of downloads and are now advertising during primetime games.

These sites and their apps are bringing in billions of dollars, even though they technically aren’t legal throughout all of the United States.

On Tuesday, the state of California voted against making sports betting legal.

Propositions 26 and 27 both received less than 30% of the vote in the golden state, meaning that neither passed.

Both DraftKings and FanDuel poured a lot of money into the propositions hoping that they’d pass.

In total, more than $570 million was dedicated both for and against these propositions.

What’s next for sports betting in the country?

It is astonishing to see the rise in popularity of both FanDuel and DraftKings.

Both of these apps are now being talked about on NBA TV, TNT, ESPN, and other major networks.

Yet, they are not legal in many parts of the country and only those located in specific states can use them.

Sports betting is surely becoming more and more popular and you can bet this won’t be the last time that FanDuel and DraftKings attempt to become legal in California and other prohibited regions.

With all the money these sports betting companies are making, they are acquiring a war chest of funds to finance and promote propositions like the ones that went down on Tuesday.

Their partnerships with the NBA will only raise their profiles more and create a strong fanbase and more voters wanting to legalize them.

Sports betting, especially betting around the NBA, isn’t going away any time soon.
