It was an unfortunate night to be a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, who were no-hit by the Houston Astros in Game 4 of the World Series.
After an offensive outburst in Game 3, the Phillies had no such luck in Game 4.
There may have been a reason behind it though.
The local sandwich chain Wawa put out a tweet saying that every time the Phillies picked up a hit, fans should take a bite of their hoagie sandwiches.
As one might expect, the tweet did not age well, and as a result, Phillies fans were left waiting to take a bite out of their hoagies all night.
Each time they get a hit, take a bite of your hoagie! #Schwarberfest

Wawa Jinxes The Phillies
This was simply a tweet that preceded a rather unfortunate event.
It could be compared to photos taken seconds before disaster.
Disaster certainly struck for the Phillies and their fans last night.
Many went hungry thanks to this tweet.
But at the very least, it’s another example of the classic lesson, “be careful what you say because the universe is listening.”
And so, the universe listened last night, and the Phillies went hitless while several fans went hungry.
The World Series is now tied at two games apiece heading into Game 5.
One can only hope that Wawa is more careful about their tweets next time around.
You can bet that Phillies fans are clamoring to take a bite out of their hoagies tonight.
But one thing is for sure.
Wawa jinxed the Phillies in Game 4 and left several fans longing for a hoagie.
