The Green Bay Packers aren’t used to losing, especially under the tutelage of coach Matt LaFleur.

Before the 2022 season, the Packers had three consecutive 13-win seasons, resulting in two NFC Championship berths, both ending in losses.

This year, they are 6-8 and find themselves clawing back into the playoff race.

While not finding sustained success in 2022, many are saying that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will either retire or get traded after this season.

Sports media pundit Shannon Sharpe doesn’t share this common sentiment.

Under his contract, Rodgers is set to make 50 million dollars in 2023.

As Sharpe describes, Rodgers should stick around as the Packers’ quarterback, especially considering his contract, and how long he has been tied to the Packers.

Why Would Rodgers Leave The Packers?

For starters, he is 39 years old, and the NFL certainly takes a toll on one’s body.

Plus, Rodgers is having one of the worst statistical seasons of his career.

Rodgers has thrown 10 interceptions this season, which is more than he threw in the 2020 and 2021 seasons combined.

His 23 touchdown passes would be his lowest mark in his career, in seasons that he has played in each game.

Although some of his shortcomings can be attributed to the Packers’ commitment to the run game, Rodgers may see his stats as a detriment, and another reason to consider retirement.

The Packers have a former first-round pick, Jordan Love, waiting in the wings.

Will Love finally get his chance in 2023?

Or, will we see another season of Rodgers, in his age 40 season?
