December 27th, 2022, will be a date Dallas Mavericks fans will never forget.

That’s the date of the Luka Doncic miracle, the day when he scored 60 points with 21 rebounds and 10 assists to seal an epic comeback win over the New York Knicks.

Yeah, Doncic’s triple-double was one for the ages, but it wasn’t the only reason why the Mavericks made history on Tuesday night.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, teams over the past 20 seasons were 0-13,884 when trailing by at least nine points with 35 or fewer seconds left on the clock.

Now, they’re 1-13,884.

Needless to say, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau was quite disappointed over being on the wrong side of history.

And while he lauded Doncic’s heroics performances, he knows his team shouldn’t have been in that position, to begin with:

“It’s a shame not to come out of here with a win,” Thibodeau said after the game. “So, 29 seconds to go. Their shots… offensive rebounds…fouls. So yeah. Disappointed. When you get to overtime, there is gonna be heavy minutes [for both teams]; that’s the reality of it.” he said. “You’re matched up with who they have on the floor as well. We got to make plays, but we shouldn’t have been in that position.”

The Knicks were one of the hottest teams in the NBA just one week ago.

Now, they’re riding a four-game winning streak.

The Knicks will continue their road trip with a game against the sluggish San Antonio Spurs.

Hopefully, that’s what they need to get back on track after such a heartbreaking loss.
